Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully. LUMO Deutsch ("we", "us", "our") offers the following products covered by these Terms:
- 1. LUMO - Learn German Words, our mobile application for iOS and Android (the "Words App")
- 2. LUMO - Der Die Das, our mobile application for iOS and Android (the "Der Die Das App")
- 3. The LUMO Deutsch website newsletter at lumodeutsch.com (the "Newsletter")
By downloading or using either App, and/or by subscribing to the Newsletter, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. LUMO - Learn German Words (Mobile App)
1.1 Use of the App
The App provides German vocabulary learning content, including word cards, exercises, and spaced repetition review tools. You may use the App for personal, non-commercial learning purposes.
1.2 Account
If you choose to use the App without signing in ("Continue without account"), an anonymous account is created for you. You may also choose to register or sign in using Apple, Google, or Email/Password. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and account access.
1.3 Subscriptions
The App offers optional premium subscriptions ("LUMO Pro") that grant access to additional learning features and unlimited content. Subscriptions are billed through in-app purchases via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, depending on which platform you downloaded the App from. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings (iOS) or Google Play subscription settings (Android).
1.4 Intellectual Property
All content in the App, including word cards, example sentences, designs, graphics, and trademarks, is owned by LUMO Deutsch or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the App without prior written permission.
1.5 Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. While we strive to ensure high-quality, accurate educational content, we do not guarantee that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted.
1.6 Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LUMO Deutsch shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the App.
2. LUMO - Der Die Das (Mobile App)
2.1 Use of the App
The App provides German noun-gender (der/die/das) practice content, including quizzes and spaced repetition review tools. You may use the App for personal, non-commercial learning purposes.
2.2 Account
Account handling differs by platform. On iOS, an anonymous account is created for you on first launch, and you may optionally sign in with Apple to keep your progress across devices. On Android, an account is required and you sign in with Google or Apple. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and account access.
You can delete your account and associated data at any time from within the App, or by submitting a request at lumodeutsch.com/delete-account.
2.3 No Subscriptions
The App is currently free to use and does not offer paid subscriptions or in-app purchases.

3. LUMO Deutsch Website Newsletter
3.1 Subscribing to the Newsletter
By subscribing to the Newsletter at lumodeutsch.com, you agree to receive periodic emails containing German vocabulary content and related updates from LUMO Deutsch. Subscription requires confirming your email address via a confirmation link before you are added to the active mailing list.
3.2 Unsubscribing
You may unsubscribe from the Newsletter at any time using the unsubscribe link provided in each email. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately.
3.3 Relationship to the Apps
Subscribing to or unsubscribing from the Newsletter does not create, affect, or require an account in either App, and does not affect your use of either App in any way. The Newsletter and the Apps are operated independently.
3.4 Intellectual Property
All content included in Newsletter emails, including word cards, example sentences, and related materials, is owned by LUMO Deutsch or its licensors and is provided for your personal, non-commercial use.
4. General
4.1 Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, including as we add new LUMO Deutsch products. Continued use of either App and/or continued subscription to the Newsletter after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
